Smash Cut is a film about a low-budget filmmaker who starts
to murder people to make the effects in his films seem more realistic.
Being an homage to the earliest pioneer of gore cinema
Herschell Gordon Lewis, I went into this film expecting it to be low-budget,
with a lot of squirting gore. And it was that. And I did like the effects,
although they were certainly cheap, but they were good overall. After all,
they’re the main reason why Herschell Gordon Lewis’ films are so notorious. So,
if you’re a ‘gorehound’ then you’ll have a wonderfully entertaining time with
this film. However, if you aren’t, then you might not like this film at all. I
think that the actors and actresses did a good job and it certainly feels like
a film that came out round about the time Herschell Gordon Lewis was making his
early films.
