Lin Shaye (known for Insidious) stars in Room For Rent, a thriller about a lonely old lady who does everything she can to make a man stay with her.
The film is well-acted, especially by Lin Shaye who lives out her role, escaping into her character.
The film is quite a slow-burn, it doesn't have a lot of scenes that get the blood-pumping, and the action is sprinkled liberally throughout. It's safe to say, don't go in expecting a lot of scary things to happen.
The story kept me glued to the screen, clamouring to find out what happened next.
I have to say, the ending felt a bit too quick, in that it ended (and I'm not going to give the ending away, don't worry) on a bit of an anticlimax. I felt like I expected more things to happen, although, that being said, I do think it's still a good ending.
The cinematography and the locations look nice and it shows how even in such a lovely neighbourhood dark things can happen.
Overall, it's a great film. It exceeded my expectations quite a lot - I wasn't expecting a lot from the film, and I was pleasantly surprised.
