Soul Mates (2023) is a horror movie where a woman wakes up chained to a man. They then proceed to play games which have life-or-death consequences. I won't spoil the movie and that's all I'll say about the plot.
It's very reminiscent of Saw. In fact, it feels like if Saw had a twisted-romantic angle to it. Although, this film doesn't feature as much gore as that horror franchise does.
This film has beautiful cinematography, with neon lighting elevating the mood. There are also some nice camera tricks, with it flipping over.
The story kept me intrigued as to what would happen, and the ending, although a tad predicable, felt like an ok way to end.
As someone who likes the Saw franchise, this film felt like a nice slice at that concept moving from room to room, playing games where other people are harmed. It even had the TV with the person talking to the 'players', which was enjoyable.
I enjoyed this film. It takes a unique angle on a familiar concept and it does it very well.
