A group visit a village where the locals are far from
friendly. Soon, they are fighting for their lives.
This film seems like a British version of those cannibal
films. However, this does have a certain line of British humour running deep
inside the story’s veins. It’s obvious what is going to happen at the outset,
these people are going to be killed off in gruesome ways, and it’s how
inventive these scenes of slaughter are and how actually gory they are. Ok,
it’s not as gory as some other films, but it provides the horror audience who
love guts galore, a fair amount of good special effects. It also has some
scenes which are like Hostel, the killers betting how long someone will survive
for, what he/she will do. But it’s not as sadistically gory as Hostel. This is
mostly played for black humour, pitch dark. It also does get intense in some
scenes of slaughter and threat. I did like some of the characters who were
being threatened. Everyone did a good job in the acting, with the level of
screaming and hollering at each other gaining a large amount of the dreaded
tension. It’s a good watch for the people who like gory black comedy horrors. I
would recommend it.
