Rest Stop

Just watched Rest Stop. It’s a horror film about a woman losing her boyfriend and being terrorised by a mysterious driver. The title comes from the main character stopping at a Rest Stop in the first few minutes after the prologue, which again, takes place in the Rest Stop, the same one. I didn’t know what to expect from this. It seemed like it was going to be some sort of gory horror film by the posters, sort of in the vein of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, maybe? Well, not really. It was basically the woman’s attempts to get free of the clutches of this psycho. It’s got traces of other horror films in this, like Duel, but it’s not as good as Duel, or in that case, Joy Ride, which I also like. Rest Stop for me was an average horror film. It’s slightly a bit predictable and unoriginal. I did like it, but it felt like it had been done a lot of times previously. It’s just not as good and entertaining as Duel or Joy Ride. The acting was good, and there was a bit of tension here and there, but it’s nothing that hasn’t been done before, and much better. I would recommend this film to people who like Joy Ride and Duel, but don’t get your hopes up too high.
