Temple
An average Japanese-American semi-found footage
supernatural horror film, which follows a group of American characters on their
trek to a mysterious temple.
It is quite obvious from the outset what will happen, and
the film does indeed contain scenes where characters run in the dark, like most
found footage movies after and including The Blair Witch Project.
The Japanese-influenced scares are also there, albeit not
very effective. There are a few images of horror which I liked and a creature
looks good with it’s practical effects, but it’s not as disturbing as some
other Japanese films that I have seen.
The best character is the one in the still down below.
Temple is an average horror film, that is filmed
sometimes from the viewpoint of a character’s video camera and sometimes like a
normal film, sometimes even with shaky-cam, as well.
It’s an ok film. I would recommend it for a few scares.
Thanks to Soda Pictures for giving me a copy to review.
Temple is out on DVD on 4th September 2017.
