The English supported version ,of the French Original called “My Life As A Zuchinni”, is an animated film centred around a young boy called Courgette, who is forced into a foster home where he meets fellow orphans who journey with him as learns about what it means to be a family and learning what it means to be in love and how to cope with lose.

This poignant feature is as short as it is heartfelt and touching at only 66 minutes long, the film is a credit to the independent scene especially with the likes of Will Forte and Nick Offerman lending their voices. The director Claude Barras has created a funny, charming and life affirming piece of art which is to be admired for its originality and masterful storytelling.

For me, “my life as a Courgette” is an outstanding film, filled with quirky characters, subtle humour, and heartfelt moments. The film reaches you at a deeper level that all humans can appreciate and relate to, with a simple yet eloquent message of friendship and love will win out over all.

With a limited release and little promotion this title deserves more attention, although already praised by critics and fans alike I urge anyone who is a fan of films to experience what this film has to offer, a familiar concept expertly told. 10/10 5 stars
