Brimstone

Brimstone is an epic western about a mad preacher.

Firstly, this film is quite long, running over the two hour mark, and feeling a bit like a slog at times. That doesn't mean it's a bad film, quite the contrary.
It is a beautifully shot, brilliantly acted film, with some shocking violence. Guy Pearce gives a standout performance as the madman. Be warned, the film does get violent towards animals and children, so if you feel queasy about scenes with that in, then I'd stay clear of this film, or just skip ahead. It is a really brilliant film, which evokes the era well and holds your interest until the end. Overall, a brooding, shocking, brutal and brilliant epic western.
