Killer Klowns from Outer Space Review

Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a comedy horror about, you guessed it, killer clowns who terrorise a neighbourhood.

It's a very simple premise that leaves time for some inventive gags.

I had a lot of fun with this movie. It's unashamedly a B-Movie and it knows it and doesn't aspire to be some great Oscar winning masterpiece. The title alone gives that away, but that doesn't at all detract from the experience of the movie.

The characters are fun to be around and the acting is good, generally, although would characters be acting in this way around some scary looking clowns (e.g. the shadow scene). For a movie like this, you have to suspend disbelief quite a bit.

The visual effects are good, however most of them have aged quite badly and there is a shot towards the end where you can see a crewmembers hand lifting up a tent, but these all add to the fun.

I want to say a few words about the look of the clowns themselves. Although they are obviously people in costumes, they look freaky and give the movie a slightly sinister tone underneath all the gags. I say gags like it's a hilarious movie. I would say more inventive than funny. I laughed once throughout, but that doesn't make the movie bad.

I would recommend Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Sure, it's not the greatest comedy horror out there, but it is a good time at the movies.
