Polite Society is a comedic action movie about two sisters, one who wants to get married to a guy called Salim, the other tries to do everything she can to make the wedding not go as planned. However, twists are afoot.
There are influences from various different movie genres in this film, from martial arts action cinema to horror movies. It is a bit of a mishmash, however that isn't a bad thing. This movie is like a masala of different flavours and it goes down great. I enjoyed it thoroughly and it was quite unpredictable.
The main draw of the movie is of course the action scenes, which are staged well, with use of slow motion to give an extra impact to every... you know... impact. Although not very bloody, it is surprisingly violent, but that doesn't in the least detract from this movie, as that's what people want coming to an action movie. I don't think there is one action movie that doesn't contain violence, and this is no exception to that unwritten rule.
All the acting was great, I really felt for the sisterly bond and the friends and bully were a nice touch as sort of sidekicks to the main character.
I would highly recommend Polite Society. I liked it a lot.
